Shelmeks are my fantasy amphibian/reptilian race, who live in the world they call Enraa. They're a highly militarized race whose society built upon honor and they're capable of breathing air and water. They can trace their (very) ancient ancestors to dragons and they tend to believe in spirits of virtue and sin.

History: Famena and her twin brother Irithmir were born into the military and were trained to battle bandits and the plant-like Invaders. They were going to be separated, but they worked so well together that their commanding officers kept them together and they excelled as accomplished scouts. In their early teens, Famena and Irithmir formed a brotherhood with two fellow soldiers, Kataak and Malakar (and eventually Dinn) so that none of them would have to die alone. But Dinn screws up so badly that he had to abandon the military and the brotherhood becomes in danger of falling apart. Famena chases after Dinn and they find Lawk's starving tribe. They rescued the vinranalian tribe from poverty and they now live in a joint vinranalian-shelmek community.

By shear chance (or fate...) they stumble upon a portal to the human world of Earth. A few months later while clearing out an Invader-infested ruin, Famena (along with the rest of my main anthro cast) finds a water spirit and it embodies her, allowing her to use water and ice magic and giving her the title "Seaborne Paragon".

After Dinn and Lawk started working at Innkuties to work off a debt, Famena decided to step in once in a while to check up on her cherished little brother-figure and to enjoy a good drink and company.

Dinn and Lawk indeed finished their debt and Famena returned with them back home to Aurorawood. There she finally wed her long time boyfriend, Kataak. Together they fought many powerful foes, once again enduring the hardships of war. But the two soldiers found solace in one another and once the fires of war died, their new family would begin to grow. Within this small family, the two battle scarred soldiers finally found peace. 

Personality: Famena believes wholeheartedly in her duty to the people, and thus won't hesitate to step in and defend the helpless (namely, Dinn). She does tend to catch on if people try to take advantage of her. She tends to the voice of reason in the brotherhood; telling Irithmir and Dinn to stop goofing around and continue training. This makes her seem like a spoilsport, but she knows how to unwind and have fun sometimes. However, Famena can be a bit of a worry wort and this leads to her venting to her anxiety to others.

Famena is also more religious than most of her kind are. She believes that the spirits within the soul affect people's actions, whether they be good or bad. She often prays to the spirits to give herself and others guidance. However, most of her kind no longer believe praying influences the spirits' behavior.

Accessory: Sword and Shield (which I can't draw). Her favorite weapons, enchanted by the water spirit, can be summoned whenever she wishes. (I totally didn't rip that off of Kingdom Hearts. Just sayin'.)

Combat and Abilities: Famena uses the sword and shield and water/ice magic (but she prefers her blade). She can empower others with her spirit's power, imbuing them with thoughts of calm and serenity (unfortunately, she can't use it on herself). But because she's military trained, she can still beat the snot out of someone even without weapons or magic.

Likes: Exercising, blacksmithing, modding weapons and armor, fine crafts (jewelry and such), face paint, sparring, being with her boyfriend

Dislikes: Chauvinists, dresses, being called "lizard," people mocking her faith

Extras: She and her brother like to wear blue face paint and have English accents. She has a tenancy to refer people over 50 as "elder." If Innkuties people yell at her enough she might break the habit (considering more than half of the members are over 100, it probably won't take her very long).
